Jail & Detention Facility Notary Services in Los Angeles
LA Notary On Call provides mobile notary services for individuals in correctional and detention facilities throughout Los Angeles County and surrounding areas, subject to facility rules, scheduling, identification requirements, security procedures, access requirements, and California notary law. Family members, attorneys, law firms, and other authorized persons may request coordination of a jail or detention facility notary appointment.
Jail & Detention Facility Visit — Starting at $200
The facility visit / service fee starts at $200. The final quote depends on the facility, location, distance, access and security procedures, anticipated waiting time, and the circumstances of the appointment. Applicable California notarial fees are separate from the facility visit / service fee.
Jail and detention appointments require individual review and a final quote from LA Notary On Call before confirmation. A $50 reservation deposit is requested only after your request is accepted, and it is credited toward the final quoted amount.
Facility access
Correctional and detention facilities control access, scheduling, security procedures and inmate availability. LA Notary On Call cannot guarantee that a facility will permit or complete a scheduled notary visit. Additional documentation, advance approval or coordination may be required by the facility.
LA Notary On Call is an independent notary service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, CDCR, any correctional facility or any government agency.
Who pays
Jail and detention notary services are generally privately arranged and paid for by the person requesting the service, such as a family member, spouse, attorney, law firm, or other authorized party. Government or agency billing applies only where LA Notary On Call has been specifically retained, authorized, or issued an appropriate purchasing arrangement by that agency or organization.
What we will ask for
- Your name, phone, email and relationship to the person in custody
- The full legal name of the person in custody, and booking or inmate number if available
- Facility name and location
- Document type and approximate number of documents and notarizations
- Requested date, and time if known
- Attorney or law firm information, if applicable
Identification requirements for incarcerated signers may differ from ordinary appointments. California law contains specific provisions concerning qualifying inmate identification, and facility procedures apply.
Reservation deposit and cancellations
- A $50 jail/detention appointment reservation deposit is required after your request is accepted. It is credited toward your final quoted amount and is not an additional fee.
- The deposit is refundable if the appointment is cancelled at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.
- Cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment and customer no-shows forfeit the reservation deposit.
- If LA Notary On Call cancels the appointment, the deposit will be refunded.
- If the appointment cannot proceed because of a facility lockdown, facility cancellation, inmate transfer or release, denial of access, or another circumstance outside the customer's and LA Notary On Call's reasonable control, LA Notary On Call will determine whether the appointment can be rescheduled or the deposit refunded based on the circumstances.

LA Notary On Call is not a law firm, does not draft documents, and does not select the notarial act a document requires. Every appointment request is reviewed and is not confirmed until it is accepted. Appointments are available during daytime, evening and weekend hours subject to scheduling.
